Ushan Premaratne is a leading disputes practitioner recognised for handling some of the most challenging, high-value, and strategically sensitive matters. With a practice spanning international arbitration, cross border litigation, civil fraud, shareholder and private equity disputes, and contentious trusts, he is regularly entrusted with navigating complexity, crisis, and high-pressure commercial conflict.

Ushan has acted in arbitrations across SIAC, ICC, HKIAC, AIAC, AAA, CAS and ad hoc tribunals, covering shareholder and joint venture breakdowns, private equity and venture capital disputes and large-scale technology, banking, and software project failures.

He is also frequently instructed for arbitration related court litigation, including award setting aside, enforcement, anti-suit measures, and urgent injunctions before the High Court, Appellate Division and Court of Appeal.

Ushan is known for stepping into crisis stage disputes—including internal investigations, governance failures, and valuation collapses in high growth companies.

Highly trusted for his judgment, Ushan has advised on globally watched investigations, including the €3.5 billion Wire card fraud, the governance collapse of a near unicorn Southeast Asian startup – Zilingo and the major fraud in the energy and commodities sector involving the Hin Leong entities.
